Indonesia's banking credit forecast to grow 14 pct this year

Banking credit in Indonesia is projected to expand between 12 to 14 percent this year as the country's central bank applies easing policy amid a good economic prospect, a senior official of the lender said here on Wednesday.

For next year, the credit growth is estimated at 14 to 16 percent, Perry Warjiyo, deputy governor of the central bank said.

Indonesian economy is estimated to grow at 5.2 to 5.6 percent this year, rising from 4.79 percent last year, according to the central bank.

Indonesian financial services authority has issued a series of policies to spur expansion of the banking credit in the country.

The central bank has also issued a policy to ease down payment for automobile and housing purchase.
