Sri Lankan Buddhist monks are on their way to pray at the Sacred City of Anuradhapura in North Central Province, Sri Lanka, March 9, 2016. This sacred city was established around a cutting from the "tree of enlightenment", the Buddha's fig tree, brought there in the 3rd century B.C.. The tree that grew out of the branch stands in the city of Anuradhapura and is regarded as an object of great veneration with tens of thousands visiting Anuradhapura to pay homage. In 1982 the Sacred City of Anuradhapura was inscribed as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) World Heritage site. (Xinhua/Li Peng)
