China drug problem: More than two million users nationwide
China has released its annual report on drug-use, which also outlines the control methods authorities are implementing. There are currently more than 2.3 million drug users in China. Just less than two percent of them are under 18 years, while more then three-fifths are between the ages of 18 and 35.
According to the report, overseas drugs penetrating the country's borders continues to be a major problem. Nine in ten of the heroin and meth tablets seized in 2015 originated in the so-called "Golden Triangle" -- an area which includes parts of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos.
However, the domestic manufacturing of meth and ketamine remains prominent. China seized 79 tons of illicit drugs which were produced in China last year, accounting for 77 percent its overall tally.
