A special exhibition for works created by artists with disabilities premiered at the cultural center in Lijiang, Yunnan province on Nov 13.

The four-day event was sponsored by China Disabled Persons' Federation. At the center, visitors had the pleasure of viewing 100 pieces of paintings and calligraphy by local artists and others from all around the country.

With unique aesthetic perspectives and creative techniques, the artists captured glimpses of their daily lives and personalities in their works. Many such art included themes such as nature, depicting beautiful flowers and animals. This remarkable showcase demonstrated each unique artists’ pursuit of happiness through art.

At the event, four artists made a welcomed appearance to chat with visitors and draw paintings and write calligraphies on the spot as souvenirs for the guests.

He Zhigang, a calligrapher of the Naxi ethnic group, showed two pieces of calligraphy work at the exhibition. "The exhibition provided a platform for us to communication with and learn from each other. I hope my work can help people appreciate artistic beauty and make them feel our inner force," he said.

The federation has held exhibitions of such kind in Jiangxi, Hubei, Gansu and other southwestern provinces, and plans to hold them 20 times a year in an effort to demonstrate the artistic achievements of the people with disabilities and arouse people's attention to their causes.
