Situated in west Yunnan’s Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, the Weishan Old Town is a town of culture. It is the place of origin of the Nanzhao Kingdom (738-902). Since the Tang Dynasty (618-907), it had been an important trading hub on the Tea and Horse Road.

The Weishan Old Town has the most well-preserved building complex dating back to the Ming(1368-1644) and Qing(1644-1912) Dynasty. In the town with the Gongchen Tower as its center, old houses, towers, bridges are scattered here and there, and they are connected by old streets and lanes.

Like the Old Town of Dali, the weather in Weishan Old Town is spring all the year around. But it is more quiet and less commercialized.

As the “soul” of the Weishan Old Town, the Nanzhao Old Street is a “Chinese Historical and Cultural Street”. It consists of the Yuehua Street, Risheng Street, Bei Street and Nan Street. Along the Street, traditional houses and ways of business are well-preserved. Hence the street is also called a “live old street”.
