Myanmar consulate general in Kunming celebrates the 69th anniversary of national independence on January 4.
The consulate general of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar held a reception in Kunming to celebrate the 69th anniversary of national independence on January 4.
Yunnan vice governor Chen Shun was present at the reception.
Addressing the guests, Myanmar consul general in Kunming U Soe Paing said Myanmar and China border each other and have a long tradition of paukphaw friendship.
In Yunnan, 16 ethnic minority groups are close and similar to Myanmar ethnic minorities in the bordering areas.
As members of the Lancang-Mekong, the BCIM economic corridor and the ASEAN 10＋1 cooperative mechanisms, the two countries have cooperated in many fields, noted the Myanmar consul.
Soe Paing believes that through joint effort the two sides will make bigger progress in win-win cooperation and friendly exchanges.
In-Kunming consul generals and officials from other neighboring countries, Myanmar students in Kunming, as well as Yunnan representatives from varied fields also attended the reception.
Myanmar traditional dancing was staged at the event.
