Ambassador: China-Laos Railway to be built into quality project
“I ask you to focus on workers' safety, strengthen the quality awareness and safety precautions in an earnest manner, and strive to build the China-Laos Railway into a fine project,” said Wang Wentian, Chinese Ambassador to Laos.
Wang said this during a 3-day visit to the north Laos province of Luang Prabang from March 6 to 8, and the working tour took him to a China-Laos Railway tunneling site in a village. Wang was accompanied by Li Baoguang, Chinese Consul General in Luang Prabang.
The ambassador extended belated Chinese new-year greetings to the construction workers, indicating the political significance of the railway project.
General manager of the Laos-China Railway Company Zhao Xiang and other project workers said they will live up to the ambassador’s trust, by putting efforts to construction quality and safety precautions earnestly, and proceeding with the project in accordance with production regulations. The railway will greatly contribute to the economic and trade cooperation between China and Laos.
During the visit, Wang also met with Luang Prabang governor Khamkhanh Chanthavisouk, exchanging views on how to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries and put into practice the consensus reached by the state leaders.
