Yunnan-Sagaing brightness journey kicks off
The Yunnan-Sagaing Brightness Journey 2018 was launched in Sagaing, Myanmar on September 13, aiming to provide free surgery for 300 cataract patients in Myanmar within 6 days.
At the launching ceremony, the Chinese side also handed over to the Myanmar side medical instruments worth 36 million kyats and 400 gowns for patients.
Organized by Yunnan NGOs, the 2018 journey has surgeons from the Second People's Hospital of Yunnan Province. Starting in 2016, the yearly medical activity has offered free surgeries to 1,800 cataract patients in Myanmar.
"Everything looks dim, and cataract is troublesome. I want to have my eyes cured as soon as possible," said a 73-year-old patient, who rushed to Sagaing from Mandalay in the morning.
