Bangladesh is all set to send a high-powered delegation to the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), to be held in Shanghai from Nov. 5 to 10 which reflects Beijing's commitment to open its door wider for trade and investment, senior officials said Sunday.

Abu Mukhles Alamgir Hossain, deputy director of the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh (EPB), told Xinhua that the delegation would be led by Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed.

Apart from this, he said an EPB team led by its chief Bijoy Bhattacharjee, also a secretary of the Bangladeshi government, will visit Shanghai to supervise the Bangladeshi expo participants.

Eight Bangladeshi state agencies and enterprises including Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh (EPB), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA), Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism will take part in the expo to showcase the country's remarkable social developments and economic achievements.

Avijit Chowdhury, director general of EPB, said they regard the mega expo as an opportunity to woo foreign investors and create new market for Made-in-Bangladesh products abroad.

He said Bangladesh has already booked a big pavilion at the expo that allocated national pavilions for the participating countries.

There is also space for showcasing a memento portraying Bangladesh in the fair, he said.

Li Guangjun, economic and commercial counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, had earlier said the fair manifests that China's door will open wider not be closed.

The first CIIE will be held in Shanghai from Nov. 5 to 10. More than 2,800 enterprises from more than 130 countries and regions have confirmed their participation.
