Yunnan woman welcomed as the ten millionth Chinese visitor to Thailand
A welcoming ceremony was held by the tourism department of Thailand on December 19, to receive the ten millionth Chinese visitor to the country this year.
The number of visitors from China refreshes the record this year. The ten millionth visitor is He Weixin from south China’s Yunnan Province. For He, this was her second visit to Thailand.
She was welcomed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand along with representatives from the tourism-related public and private sectors in the Suvarnabhumi Airport, and was presented with flight ticket, shopping voucher and other gifts.
This is the first time for the Thai government to hold a ceremony to welcome Chinese tourists. The increase in the number of Chinese visitors signifies the success of the Thai tourism industry’s ongoing effort to attract more tourists to the country.
In his speech delivered during the ceremony, Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports, said the Thai government plans to further improve facilities and offer tourists better services and experience.
