A news release of the first CIIE

The CIIE was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in May 2017.

As a significant move for China to open its market to the world, the expo also serves as a platform for countries all over the world to display their development achievements and discuss international trade issues.

In the next five years, China is expecting to import products and services valuing more than 10 trillion U.S. dollars, which provides a historic opportunity for enterprises across the world to enter the huge Chinese market.

During the CIIE, the Country Pavilion for Trade and Investment will be set up for countries to exhibit their products. An Enterprise and Business Fair and an International Trade Forum will also be held.

Enterprises from over 100 countries and regions are expected to participate in the first CIIE, together with 150,000 domestic and foreign professional purchasers.

China will offer fast customs clearance, inspection and quarantine, while providing one-stop transaction services online and offline and safeguarding the rights and interests of merchants.

Located in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone, Shanghai is a Chinese connectivity hub. Annual passenger throughput of Shanghai Airport exceeds 100 million, with the flight network covering 282 cities around the world.
