Dongchuan international car race to kick off
The 15th Dongchuan Debris Flow International Off-Road Car Race, also the 2018 China Cross-Country Car-Race Championships (Dongchuan Leg), will be staged from April 29 to May 3 in Dongchuan District, central Yunnan’s Kunming City. A recent news release in Beijing said.
“A car race is like our life journey, in which we become stronger and find out who we are after the unknown challenges,” said Li Pengcheng, a racer. The race is jointly organized by the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of People’s Republic of China (CAMF) and local sports authorities.
As a challenging yet encouraging race, the event this year features a ring-shaped race-track and women participation for the first time. The Kunming bike league will introduce new activities like cycling to popularize the event among the public.
In Dongchuan, a north-eastern district of Kunming, the debris flow has developed for more than 300 years, leaving 113 debris flow gullies. In 2004, Dongchuan began to hold the off-road racing in an effort to turn ecological disadvantages into tourism resources.
