Sirens were sounded across Kunming, Yunnan Province on Tuesday morning to commemorate the 87th anniversary of the September 18 Incident, or the Mukden Incident, which marked the beginning of Japan’s invasion to China in 1931.

At the Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall in downtown Kunming, solemn activities were held to remember the day, including silent tribute, flower offering and historic exhibition.
