Auspicious egg festival in Pu’er
Every year, the red egg festival is held in Wenquan Village, southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er for auspicious purposes.
Have you ever seen red eggs? Well, it is not surprising to find red eggs in southwest Yunnan's Pu'er City. In local culture, eggs dyed red are auspicious. Locals usually boil eggs in water containing red ginseng, red garlic and sorghum husk, and turn them red. In one village named Wenquan in Ning’er County, Pu'er, villagers even celebrate a festival of red eggs.
Painting colorful eggs, finding hidden eggs in hills, Hani long street banquet... various activities held during the festival drew ten thousand tourists to the village last year.
