Mute-god festival marked in Nanjian County

The mute-god festival was recently celebrated in Nanjian Yi Autonomous County, west Yunnan’s Dali Prefecture by local folks.
During the festival, sacrifice ceremonies were held to pray for a bumper harvest, and other activities involve cheerful mute dancing, drum beating, and playing Lusheng (a reed-pipe wind instrument).
The festival also marks the beginning of the spring ploughing in agriculture.
