Artists turn Yunnan village into a gallery

What makes your trip to Malaysia’s George Town unforgettable must be that you can have fun with the street art. In southeast Yunnan’s Guangnan County, artists have also changed the Heye Village into “a scroll of paintings”. They drew patterns of animals on trees and turned walls into colorful paintings, winning thumb-ups from tourists.

Watch out! “Yellow-black snakes” coil around the tree branches, little mouse standing in front. An owl sits on the tree, while a terrifying crocodile hides itself in the leaves. If you are not told these are paintings in advance, they must mistake your eyes.

As part of the upcoming Rice-planting Culture Festival of Guangnan, the painting arts aim at beautifying the village and promoting the local tourism industry. Many tourists are attracted to visit the village. They cannot help taking photos with these lifelike paintings in Heye Village. Some of them even touch the trees to make sure the paintings are not real animals.

The person in charge the painting program is a 26-year-old young man named Yuan Qiming. He and his fellow have painted more than 20 paintings in the trees and on the walls in Heye Village.
