E-devices can be used on China planes from now on
China Eastern Airlines and Hainan Airlines have allowed passengers to use portable electronic devices (PED) on their planes, according to a Shanghai Morning Post report today (January 18).
The decision was made after the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued a guide on use of PED on aircrafts on January 16.
The CAAC lifted the electronic devices ban on October 1, 2017, allowing airlines to decide how to implement the rule on the basis of their own security assessments.
In 1999, China's aviation authority banned the use of any portable electronic devices on planes, because wireless signals were considered a hazard to flight safety.
