Yunnan’s Thousand Talents Program hailed by foreign experts
The Implementing Details for the “Thousand Talents Program” of Yunnan Province was recently issued. Also known as the Yunnan Recruitment Program of Global Experts, the program was highly regarded by quite a few foreign experts working in Yunnan.
They observed that the program provides strong funding support in bringing in talents, showing the province’s high profile of opening up and its determination in attracting talents.
As a high-end talents introduction program, the “Thousand Talents Program” will undoubtedly provide job opportunities for international talents, while benefiting local companies and industries and giving a strong pull to the overall development of Yunnan, said Zeng Xianfang, general manager of Yuxi Zerun Biotechnology Company.
Zeng comes from the United States. Beginning his working in Yunnan in 2016, Zeng has been listed as a Yunnan high-end foreign experts.
"Agriculture is of special importance to Yunnan. The "Thousand Talents Program" identifies the Yunnan-featured modern agriculture as a key area, which will help blaze new studying fields for agricultural researchers and better put into practice their research achievements.”
Li Dongxuan, an agricultural expert from South Korea, currently conducts rice research at Yunnan Agricultural University. He has been working in Yunnan for more than 10 years and won various Yunnan science awards to foreign experts.
"The program reflects the strong talent awareness in Yunnan Province," said Yang Hongyi, who used to teach at Bath Spa University in the United Kingdom for more than 20 years and now works at Southwest Forestry University in Kunming.
Yang believes that through the implementation of the "Thousand Talents Program", a new overseas talent development system will be formed in Yunnan Province. At the same time, the program will also have a positive impact on Yunnan in building innovative talent teams and optimizing the environment for talent development.
