Recently, Vientiane High School in Laos became sister schools with both No. 1 Middle School in Kunming and No. 4 Middle School in Mile County. Lieutou Chinese School, another high school in Vientiane, also established partnerships with the Yunnan Normal University Affiliated High School and Mile Qinglai School.

According to agreements signed in Kunming and Mile, the sister schools will exchange visits on a regular basis and learn from each other’s strengths.

Both sides hope to promote educational cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, as well as the continued development for both regions.

Over the next five years, according to the agreements, the four pairs of schools will share educational information and exchange visits by school management, teachers and students on a regular basis. They agreed to promote educational exchanges and cooperation between junior and senior high schools, while also facilitating the growth and progress of young people on both sides.

This year, the two Laotian schools sent a group of 26 students to Yunnan province to participate in the second Charming Yunnan China-Laos Youth Friendly Exchanges. The programme was sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government. Currently, more than 5,000 Laotian students are studying in Yunnan province.
