49,000 people pass through Ruili land ports each day

“Since Ruili City was determined as a National Key Development and Opening-up Experimental Area, more and more people pass through the land ports in the city. Now, more than 49,000 pass through Ruili each day, and more than 50,000 Myanmar people live and work in the city,”said Peng Lei, the person in charge of Command Center, Ruili Station of Immigration Inspection.

Ruili is a city located on the Chinese side along China-Myanmar border. In 1978, it became a national first-class land port. In 2010, it was determined by the central government of China that Ruili would be built into a National Key Development and Opening-up Experimental Area.

Now, against the backdrop of “Belt and Road”Construction, Ruili is becoming the largest land hub in China-Myanmar trade.

According to statistics released by Ruili Municipal Government, the volume of goods imported and exported through Ruili accounts for 70% of the total of Yunnan province. It has become the largest of land port on the China-Myanmar border in terms of the volume of import and export goods.

As more and more foreigners come to live and work in Ruili, the local government has set up the Ruili Service and Administration Center for Foreigners in 2013. Now, the center provides one-stop innovative and effective services for foreigners.
