1st LMC training program on project management, development held in Cambodia
The first Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) training program on project management and sectoral development of key priority areas kicked off in Siem Reap, Cambodia on Tuesday, said a press release.
Chhem Rethy, a minister in the Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen's Office, Cambodian Foreign Ministry Secretary of State Luy David, and Liu Zhijie, director of the Siem Reap Consular Office of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, presided over the opening ceremony of the training course, the release said.
It said the four-day event was attended by approximately 50 officials from the six LMC countries, namely China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
The training program was among the 18 projects that Cambodia received funding from the LMC Special Fund, it said.
"The project aims to enhance capacity of project implementers across the five key priority areas of the LMC by providing a platform for policy-makers and regional think-tanks to engage and discuss on how the LMC can better promote peace and sustainable development in the region," the release said.
Initiated in 2015, the LMC was aimed at promoting socio-economic development in the member countries, and at supporting the ASEAN Community Building and ASEAN-China Cooperation.
In 2016, China launched the LMC Special Fund of 300 million U.S. dollars for five years to support small and medium projects proposed by the LMC member countries, the release said.
