Japanese professor gives lecture for Heqing silver smiths
The Japanese professor Satoshi Hara from Kanazawa College of Art recently came to visit Heqing County in west Yunnan’s Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture for academic exchange on silverware-making crafts. During his stay in Heqing, Satoshi Hara gave lectures and exchanged ideas with more than 20 local silver smiths.
With a history of more than 1,000 years, the silverware forging craftsmanship of Heqing has been put into the list of Chinese national intangible cultural heritage.
In recent years, the silverware of Heqing has been gaining popularity both at home and abroad. Several well-known Chinese and foreign universities have set up teaching practicing bases in Heqing, combining their design and creation advantages with traditional craftsmanship of Heqing.
And to help pass on the traditional art, several well-known foreign artists have been invited to give lectures for local silver smiths.
