A total of 27.12 million tourist trips were made in Yunnan province during the seven-day National Day holiday, up by 21.1 percent year on year, according to a Yunnan Daily report.

Tourism revenue reached nearly 21.6 billion yuan (about 3.03 billion U.S. dollars) during the holiday which lasts from Oct. 1 to 7, up 22.1 percent, said the report.

Self-drive tours and travelling by bullet trains have become highlights. The province saw about 11.2 million vehicles cross the provincial border in the holiday, an increase of 6.7% year-on-year.

Fuxing bullet trains debuted on the Kunming-Hekou railway during the National Day holiday, injecting new impetus into tourism in southern Yunnan.

Hekou, falling under the jurisdiction of south Yunnan’s Honghe prefecture, is a border town near the China-Vietnam borderline.
