Uygur bread baking contest held in south Xinjiang
The first Nang (a kind of Xinjiang-style bread) making competition was held in Yecheng, Kashgar prefecture on Friday.
Seventy-five participants baked 300 styles of Nang, including sesame taste, walnut taste, etc.
Nang, a specialty of Xinjiang, boasts a long history and has a unique flavor.
It is of great significance to traditional Chinese food culture and has become a distinctive part of Xinjiang's image.
Yecheng was a vital town along the ancient Silk Road, a witness to both migration and integration over the years.
As a hub where different histories and cultures met, it has created unique Nang with various tastes and novel styles.
The Hongshiliu Nang industrial park in Yecheng was put into use in August, 2019. It aims to inherit the county's cuisine culture, create a distinctive brand, offer jobs and eliminate poverty.
