China and Cambodia have stepped up agro-cooperation in the context of the ongoing Covid pandemic. The Cambodian exports of rice, bananas and others to China continued growing.

China remained Cambodia’s largest market for banana export, consuming 310,000 tons of Cambodian bananas in the first eight months of this year, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia on September 2.

“In May 2019, China allowed Cambodian bananas to access its market, boosting the Cambodian banana industry,” said Chea Munyrith, president of the Cambodia-China Relations Development Association, hoping the two countries could cooperate more.

The two sides also pushed ahead joint customs services for Cambodian fruits, vegetables and aquatic products to China.
