More than 600,000 railway trips were made in Yunnan province during the New Year holiday travel rush that lasted from December 31 to January 3, according to statistics from CR Kunming Group.

On January 3, Yunnan railways operated 331 trains in response to the returning travel peak, serving over 150,000 passengers. Of these trains, 272 are bullet trains and 28 are additional ones.

Hot destinations outside Yunnan included Guiyang, Nanning, Chongqing and Chengdu. Within the province, popular destinations for Kunming travelers were Dali, Lijiang and Mengzi.

Strict measures have been taken by Yunnan rail authorities to prevent the Covid-19 from spreading among crowds of tourists, including disinfection, QR-codes and more.
