Dr. Xu, a researcher at the Southwest Forestry University based in Kunming, Yunnan province, has recently discovered the golden jackal in Tibet’s Gyirong County, some 750 kilometers to the east of Lhasa.

The golden jackal is a wolf-like canid that is native to south Asia, southeast Asia, southwest Asia and Europe. It is the second time that the animal species has been recorded in China.
