233,000 rare fish fries released into Jinsha River

A total of 233,000 rare fries of the Yangtze sturgeon, mullets and carps were released into the Yunnan section of the Jinsha River, upper reach of the Yangtze River on April 23.

The eco-friendly action was jointly done by Yunnan Forest and Grassland Bureau and local conservationists in northeast Yunnan’s Shuifu County. The freed fish fries involved 3,000 Yangtze sturgeon under first-class state protection in China, as well as 70,000 mullets and 160,000 carps under second-class protection.
