Medics aiding Ruili return home

More than 2,000 doctors and nurses sent to the border city of Ruili in west Yunnan province left for home on April 27, having secured a victory over the small Covid-19 outbreaks over the past month.

Ruili has lifted home quarantine in its low-risk areas starting from 8 p.m. April 26, the city's epidemic prevention and control headquarters said.

“We’ll miss you for good!” “Salutes to those who braved the storm.” “Thank you for the hard work!” Upon the medics’ leaving, thousands of residents took to the streets to see off, slogans in hands and tears in eyes.

Showing their respect, local traffic police served as escort of the buses that carried medics home.
