Static testing begins on China-Laos railway

Updated:2021-07-12 16:38:39

With major works finished, the Chinese section of the China-Laos railway has entered the static testing stage, said China Railway Kunming Group on July 11.

The systemic tests will last from July to September, when five groups of railway professionals will have thorough checks and examinations over the rail bed, bridges, tunnels, tracks and the related facilities on the international railway.

The static testing will be followed by dynamic checks, and the tests will make it possible for the railway to be timely put to service as scheduled.

Extending for 1,000 plus kilometers, the China-Laos railway is expected to open to traffic at the end of 2021. By then, the Kunming-Jinghong trip will be shortened to over three hours, and Laotians can reach Kunming, Yunnan province within one day.
