The Kunming Changshui International Airport will be able to serve 95 million passengers annually by the year of 2030, said a feasibility study report that has been recently approved by the National Reform and Development Commission.

The feasibility study report on the Kunming airport extension added that the annual cargo throughput is expected to reach one million tonnages and the yearly number of landings and taking offs will add up to 633,000.

The extension project features a new terminal (T2) with 131 flight places, two runways and a 4-floor communication hub that link up flights, subway trains, fast trains and coaches.

The Kunming airport served 32.99 million passengers and put through 325,051 tons of goods in 2020, ranking 6th among Chinese airports.

The airport and its coming enlargement are conducive to Yunnan’s opening up to the ASEAN and South Asian regions, as well as to the joint pursuit of the Belt and Road Initiative.
