China-Myanmar media forum held in Kunming

Opening of the forum (Yunnan Daily/Zhang Tong) 

The 2021 China-Myanmar Twin City Media Forum took place in Kunming, Yunnan province on December 22.

With the theme of “more mutual confidence and exchanges for China-Myanmar media cooperation,” the forum was held online and offline and attended by senor officials, IR scholars, journalists and translators involved in China-Myanmar communications.

Zeng Yan, director of the Publicity Department of CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, said the forum will enhance the China-Myanmar cooperation in media, think tanks and translation services, helping form long-term mechanisms for dialogue and communication.

“I hope that media outlets and think tanks in the two countries could join hands in building high-end information networks for mutual confidence and friendship and contribute to common prosperity of China and Myanmar,” added Zeng.

In a video speech, U Maung Maung Ohn, Myanmar Union Minister for Information and Hotels and Tourism, said China-Myanmar media cooperation in recent years contributed to people-to-people exchanges and bilateral economic relations, expecting more objective and accurate reports for mutual confidence and benefits.

“Media plays a key role in China-Myanmar communication, and I believe people in the two countries will use media for further mutual understanding and friendship,” said U Myo Thant Pe, Myanmar ambassador to China, via video.

Unveiling of the China-Myanmar Media Research Center and the Translation Workshop for China-Myanmar International Communication (Yunnan Daily/Zhang Tong) 

The China-Myanmar Media Research Center and the Translation Workshop for China-Myanmar International Communication were unveiled at the forum, which is jointly hosted by Publicity Department of CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, Yunnan Daily Press Group, and Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences.
