A 6.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Laos on December 24, centered 5 kilometers from the Mantan village in Jiangcheng Hani and Yi autonomous county, southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er city.

Soon after the earthquake, the locals in Jiangcheng initiated emergency response, putting first the safety of people’s lives and property and evacuating those in the quake-stricken areas.

The quake damaged roads and cracked houses, causing an economic loss of 450 million yuan. A total of 143 tents have put up overnight on the football fields for those with house damages.

Up to now, all the 10 injured have been sent to hospital for treatment, according to local authorities.
