Happy Lahu, happy tea time
Every Friday, a group of musicians will meet in Pu’er Tea-horse Ancient Town for an evening party. Mr. Wang, captain of the Amiche Folk Art Troupe, leads his team here every week.
They played all kinds of Lahu musical instruments, sang songs and danced with a certain rhythm. Wherever they performed, so many people were attracted by their unique music and can’t help joining them.
While singing songs, people sat around by a fire pit and drank Pu’er tea. Roasting tea by the fire pit is the traditional tea custom of Lahu ethnic minorities, and also the most popular way of drinking tea among the five ethnic groups in southwest Yunnan.
The musicians can perform all kinds of music including Lahu, Hani, Wa and Dai ethnic groups, showing the great integration of different cultures in Yunnan.
