Barbet captured eating persimmon in Jingdong

Updated:2021-12-24 18:21:40

A photographer recently captured a group of photos where a rare golden-throated barbet was foraging persimmons in Jingdong Yi autonomous county, southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er city.

In the photos, the colorful bird croaked on the branches of a persimmon tree and pecked at the persimmons, continuously flying around the persimmon trees.

The barbet, with a body length of 19-24cm, inhabits forests at an altitude of 500 to 2,500m in Southeast Asia. In China, it only lives in parts of Yunnan province, Xizang Tibetan autonomous region and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The golden-throated bird was put under state protection in China in 2000, and it is listed as a Least Concern(LC) species on the IUCN Red List.

In recent years, the ecological environment in Jingdong has improved, providing a good living space for wild animals and plants.
