Special things you can do in Mojiang on Summer Solstice
This year, June 21st is summer solstice, which marks the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. The sun will appear directly overhead for a point on the Tropic of Cancer (latitude 23.5 degrees north). That is why today marks the longest day — or longest period of sunlight hours — and shortest night.
Mojiang Hani Autonomous County in southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er City is one of the places that the Tropic of Cancer crosses. There are varied summer solstice activities in Mojiang from June 21 to 28: listening to astronomy knowledge by scientists in observatory, experiencing no-shadow in Tropic of Cancer Park, seeing intangible heritage shows and so on. If you are interested in this special occasion, come and meet you in Mojiang.
