First sightseeing mountain train launched
CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive launched the world's first panoramic sightseeing mountain tourist train C Position tailored for Lijiang city, Yunnan province during the 2021 China International Rail Transit and Equipment Manufacturing Industry Exposition.
The project provides a brand-new solution for the integrated development of tourism and transport.
The train adopts a three-section marshalling, equipped with the first domestically developed fully-powered articulated bogie, with a maximum operating speed of 70 kilometers per hour and a maximum capacity of 351 passengers.
The train will connect the dedicated line in the Lijiang scenic area, and will travel between the ancient city of Lijiang and the Yulong Snow Mountain.
The exterior design of the train is inspired by the unique beauty of Lanyue Lake, located at the foot of the Yulong Snow Mountain in Yulong Naxi autonomous county. It is named after the lake's clear blue water.
With this unique blue train in Lijiang, the region will become a flowing landscape that blends with the beauty of the snow-capped mountains. The shape of the train hood is the design of the large curved front window "Sky Realm", which exudes a sense of purity.
The passenger compartment window includes a large viewing side window with electric dimming, which changes light and shade according to the intensity of the outdoor sunlight, similar to a chameleon. With this capability, visitors protect themselves from excessive sun while also maintaining their view of the scenery around them.
Passengers can take in a full view through the window of the car to admire the majestic snow-capped mountains, the azure blue lake and the exquisite canyon scenery around them.
From the ancient town to the snow mountain all the way to the increase in altitude, the vehicle design considers the viewing angle along the way.
Zhou Li, director of the project of CRRC Zhuzhou, said the test of climbing lies within the power of the vehicle.
To adapt to the line with small curves and long slopes, the vehicle pioneered a powered articulated bogie with super long and large slopes.
"The traction operation capacity of the road can meet the operating conditions of the line with a continuous length of 9 kilometers and a curved surface radius of 50 meters," he said. "Moreover, it can adapt to the small turning radius of the ancient town area and flexibly shuttle through the building complex of the ancient town of Lijiang."
Besides being able to climb hills, it must also rely on a strong braking ability to go downhill, especially in rain and snow.
The vehicle adopts a braking method that combines electric braking, hydraulic braking and magnetic track braking, and is equipped with a sand spreading device.
The "quadruple insurance" guarantees safe operation in extreme weather.
The project takes "humanistic, smart and green transport" as the main line, with rail transit construction and operation management as the core, and aims to promote the rapid development of the city, improve tourism supporting functions, and enhance the quality of tourist travel.
It focuses on promoting Lijiang urban rail transit construction, enhances the style of Lijiang scenic spots, facilitates the travel of Lijiang tourists, and helps the development of the society.
