80% of Xinjiang cotton harvested by machine

Mechanized plough and seeding enhanced farming efficiency, and the cotton harvest by machine has exceeded 80 percent in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

A total of 6,095,266 acres of cotton fields will be farmed in Xinjiang this spring. Guided by the Beidou positioning system, local farmers can drive the machines with precision and achieve even patterns in ditching, sowing and earthing.

Xinjiang is the major producer of Chinese cotton, and almost half of local farmers live on growing cotton, which contributed 30% of their income.
