Go deep in Lijiang: Chenghai lake replenished with Jinsha water

Updated:2022-04-28 17:48:00

Water from the Jinsha River (upper reach of the Yangtze River) were diverted and flowed into the Chenghai Lake, northwest Yunnan’s Lijiang city on April 21, kicking off a new round of the water replenishment for the lake.

As water level of the lake declined and the water volume decreased sharply in recent years, Chenghai has become the most ecologically-fragile among the nine plateau lakes in Yunnan province.

The water replenishment project was launched in 2019 to save the lake. So far, 66.89 million cubic meters of water have been diverted to Chenghai.
