Dali craftsmen show their talents to cheer winter Olympics
Several craftsmen recently created different Bing Dwen Dwen works to cheer for Beijing Winter Olympics in West Yunnan’s Dali Bai autonomous prefecture. They showed their traditional skills by presenting the winter Olympic theme on embroidery, tie dying, wax dyeing, wood carving and black pottery.
Zhang Hanmin and Xiong Tianyan, tie-dye and wax-dye masters, create some works with Bing Dwen Dwen on them. "After watching the grand opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics, I felt extremely proud of my motherland, and I wish Chinese athletes will perform well in the games." Said Zhang.
A wood carver from Jianchuan county, Aliang, created a wooden version of Bing Dwen Dwen with unique carving skills. "Since the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics, I want to do my part to cheer for the Games and show the beauty of Jianchuan wood carvings, an intangible heritage of my hometown." Liang introduced.
What does "black pottery panda” look like? After kneading, pressing, shaping and more procedures, black pottery "Bing Dwen Dwen" was invented by Dong Zhiming and other black pottery masters.
With the Beijing Winter Olympic Games in full swing, the spirit of the Winter Olympic Games will affect more children. So, they volunteered to teach children how to shape tile cats (traditional architectural decorations in Yunnan), and black pottery "Bing Dwen Dwen".
