Since the reopening of the Lameng land port in March and the Leiyun land port in April, the two have recorded 16,000 metric tons of inbound and outbound cargo, according to the Ruili Station of Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture in Yunnan province.

"Starting in July 2021, all the ports in Dehong were temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 epidemic," said Song Yunhai, an official at the station. "After finishing the upgrade of operation procedure, facilities and software, Lameng passage got approval to restart the trial operation of exit-entry cargo services on March 13."

So far, around 600 cargo trucks mainly transporting agricultural products have passed the two ports smoothly, according to the station.

The daily volume of imported goods through Lameng has increased from 350 tons to nearly 580 tons, an increase of 65.7 percent, marking a gradual heating up of freight transportation in the China-Myanmar border area.

The station has optimized the transport and customs clearance process, ensuring efficiency.

Strict epidemic prevention and control measures have been put in place, including staggered hours, closed-loop management, overall disinfection and an information registration system.

Further, the station is working with the local government to understand the difficulties of enterprises in the import and export business, hoping to promote the high-quality development of the local economy via constant improvement of clearance efficiency.
