A series of items believed to be Neolithic Period and Bronze Age have been unearthed in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Archaeologists found former sites of wood houses and cellars, in addition to pottery and stoneware in the Yijiaga cultural relics site in Wuding County.

"The items were mainly found in the Neolithic, Bronze Age earth layers, including some stone graves," said Li Xiaorui, with the Yunnan Archaeological Research Institute.

Li said that the discovery proved there had been human activity in the middle reaches of the Jinsha River since the Neolithic Period, and provided valuable materials for research about early human life in the area.
