Dance drama “Pingtan Impression” debuts in Yunnan  

The drama dance “Pingtan Impression”, directed by and starring famous Chinese dancer Yang Liping, made its debut in Kunming, capital city of Yunnan province on May 3. After that, the show will tour both at home and abroad. In a period of two years, Yang will present 150 shows to the audience around the world.

Pingtan is made up of 126 islands and lies off the east coast of east China’s Fujian province. It has time-honored history and enchanting natural scenery, which provides the backdrop for the show.

The “Pingtan Impression” is set to boost this place’s international profile. It showcases the well-known local myths, legends and folk stories. Audience can enjoy the show while immersing themselves into the atmosphere created by the lighting, 3D and multimedia technology.

The famous dancer Yang Liping, who was born in Yunnan, is also the director of another performance art show “Dynamic Yunnan”. She toured Europe and the United States in 2005. Some foreign media also called her the “Peacock Princess of China” for a series of unique ethnic folk dances about peacock she has performed, including the “Spirit of Peacock”.
