World’s top Go player Ke Jie is from Yunnan team, you know？

“Yunnan is my second hometown,” said Ke Jie, the world’s top-ranked Go player when he attended a forum in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province recently.

Yunnan is important to Ke Jie’s career. More than 10 years ago, it was the head coach of Yunnan Go Team who saw his potential and recruited him into the team. The training and match experience Ke Jie gained from the Yunnan team laid the foundation for his later achievements. 

“I feel so attached to Yunnan. I like Yunnan, it is my second hometown,” said Ke Jie, adding that every place in Yunnan, whether Dali or Xishuangbanna, has impressed him a lot.

Yunnan is famous for chess pieces production. Its craft of making chess pieces has a 500-year history and has been listed as the provincial-level intangible cultural heritage.
