Lily Ji: Rising Hollywood star from Kunming

In 2014, Lily Ji, a new actress from Kunming, the capital city of southwest China’s Yunnan province, was chosen by the director Michael Bay to play a role in Transformers series. Now, her career has been upgraded with the release of another Hollywood movie Pacific Rim Uprising.

Lily’s Chinese name is Ji Li and she studied dancing for 11 years. According to previous interview, Lily grew up in an ordinary family and her father used to work in Yunnan Arts University. She was always told by her parents that learning more skills means more opportunities. She still remembers watching movies like Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby with her father during her childhood. Influenced by the actresses in these movies, she then decided to choose acting as her life career.

Since she was in high school, Lily has learnt to act in a professional way. Lately, she was recruited by the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA ) in Australia and became the first Chinese student in the institute. Afraid to be left behind in studies because of her poor English, Lily made firm decisions to work hard in each field including acting, keeping fit, dancing, and language learning. She made it.

With multitude of talents, Lily was named one of the “13 Young Actors and Musicians coming up in Hollywood in 2018”. In the newly-released movie Pacific Rim Uprising, she plays a Chinese cadet.
