Huanglian River Waterfalls: Fairyland of wonders
Located in northeast Yunnan’s Daguan County, the Huanglian River Waterfalls form a well-known but seldom-visited scenic spot. The roaring and shining waterfalls in the scenic area rush downwards on the surfaces of rocks that form the Huanglian River bed. They look like milky ways hanging upside down in the mountains.
There are a total of 47 waterfalls in the scenic area, the tallest of which plunges more than 100 meters. Dreamy clouds float in the sky over the falls which are coupled with lush flowers and towering trees.
Also, the waterfalls boast romantic names according to the physical features. Among the interesting names are The Reunion, The Pearl-Curtain, The Waterfall, The Virgin and The Beau. The water-shade corridor, the white-elephant cave and the great slide board are additional sites frequented by visitors.
In general, the waterfall scenic area is like a fairyland of wonders. Strolling near the falls in the high mountains, you can experience the dramatic changes in climate, while enjoying the spectacular sceneries. The waters, forests and caves in the mountain all deserve your exploration.
Five kilometers away from the Daguan county seat, the Huanglian scenic area is accessible by regular shuttle buses. The admission fee is 88 yuan per person. And it is advisable to visit the waters in summer when the falls and plants can offer you their best.
