Shangri-La, an auspicious place for travelling
Shangri-La City, which belongs to Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, sits in the southern part of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. And it is where borders of Yunnan Province, Sichuan Province and Tibet meet. The word “Shangri-La” in Tibetan language refers to “a place of auspiciousness”.
The best time period to travel in Shangri-La is from May to October, when ethnic festivals are celebrated and the climate is mild. Blooming flowers, flourishing vegetation and blue sky form fairytale sceneries for travelers.
Lakes such as Bitahai, Shuduhu and Napahai are in fine natural conditions and unpolluted. Surrounded by mountains, marshes and forests, the lakes are awaiting visitors from home and abroad.
