Research kicks off for Lancang-Mekong tourism
A research team departed from west Yunnan's Baoshan City to investigate tourism resources along the upstream of the Lancang-Mekong River on Nov. 25.
The nine-day research aims at learning about current road trip routes and development status of cities and counties along the river.
It will also inject vigor to the construction of Lancang-Mekong Tourism Cities Cooperation Alliance.
Consisting of members from institutions, colleges and travel agencies, the research team will drive towards north and reach Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai Province.
Members of the team will have forums with local government and tourism administrations to facilitate cooperations in the Lancang-Mekong region.
Further research will be carried out in December to survey travel routes, customs procedures in tourist cities of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos.
The research is supported by Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism,Kunming Branch of China Tourism Academy and Yunnan Tourism Planning Institute and a number of travel agencies in Yunnan.
