Nepali students having education experiences in China are skilled manpower who may contribute to the country's development, Nepali Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel said here on Friday.
The deputy prime minister made the remarks at the gathering of Nepali students who have studied in China, which was organized by the Chinese embassy in Nepal and Nepal China Cultural and Educational Council.
The event was attended by around 400 Nepali students who graduated from Chinese universities.
"I would like to urge Nepali students to utilize the knowledge and learning gained in China and make contributions for the country's development, "Pokhrel said.
Expressing gratitude to China for providing increasing number of scholarships to Nepali students in the recent years, the deputy prime minister expressed hope that the students graduated from China will work as a bridge between the two countries.
He recalled the support of the northern neighbor in different sectors, particularly in infrastructure development and post-quake reconstruction.
Echoing his remarks, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi expressed hope that the Nepali students can make more contribution in enhancing the friendship between the two neighbors.
She said that through the gathering, the students can share memories of China and explore work opportunities.
On the occasion, some of the participants shared their educational and career experiences and appreciated the Chinese education system and cultural richness.
Raj Narayan Shah, CEO of Shanghai Lazi Electrical Power Equipment Company, told the gathering how the Chinese education has helped him in doing business in China.
Dr. Yubraj Limbu, director of the Gangalal National Heart Centre, shared his experiences of China and said that Nepali students who have studied medicines in China are doing remarkable performance in Nepali hospitals and health institutes.
According to Nepal China Cultural and Educational Council, more than 6,000 Nepali students have studied in China since 1957.
