A fashion show displaying new collections that combine traditional elements of the Hani ethnic group with modern and international aesthetics wrapped up in Beijing Garden Expo Park on Oct 28.

The show, featuring a unique runway covered by grains sent from Yunnan province's Yuanyang county, an area with many Hani people, aims to present the beauty of the county's landscape.

The show's organizer, Eve Group, China's leading high-end menswear brand founded in 1994, has trained and cooperated with many embroidery workers in Yuanyang. Supported by these professional designers, the patterns, tassels, buttons and other elements widely used by these workers have been integrated into the designs of the 47 suits in the new collections.

Xia Hua, founder of Eve Group, says their fashion ideas should also help pass down the craftsmanship and culture of different ethnic groups in China.
"At this point, we can form a uniquely Chinese fashion sense which will gain popularity around the globe," she added.

So far, the company has set up 16 museums showcasing folk artworks of ethnic groups and over 1,200 embroidery workshops which help craftsmen from mountainous areas across the country earn a decent livelihood from their skills.
